I love to travel and explore new places. I love the feeling I get when I’m on vacation. What is it about vacation that excites us and inspires us, while at the same time we’re more open and relaxed? When I’m away from my “normal life”, I have fresh, new ideas and my creativity flows effortlessly. Don’t you?
So at this time in my life, how can I bring that feeling, creative flow and new idea generation into my everyday life? What I can do to tap into those feelings without getting on a plane? I believe the reason we love vacations is they interrupt our patterns of habitual actions and thoughts. This is what Tony Robbins and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) refer to as “pattern interrupt”. By disarming our habits, routines, beliefs and assumptions, it creates a space for something new. This space allows for something more vital, creative and alive to enter our life!
I encourage you to step out of your ordinary daily routines. Interrupt your day with something new. Drive a different route. Have lunch in a place you’ve never been before. You’ll feel that creativity flow.
